candles, knitting and hot weather
It is getting hot here in the day like 81 F in the Washington, DC area cooler at night, we move right from a short spring to the beginnings of a typically unpleasant hot Washington summer. Give me the lemonade stands and pink cherry blossoms of a wonderful Kensington spring.
Just did the 3 pale yellow green candles with a delightful almond biscotti scent for one customer the other day, she was very delighted with them and one other gave one of my peach ginger candles with red soap glitter on top to her daughter and her daughter was thrilled I read from her e-mail. Write now my house smells like peaches and spice from 9 candles I made for someone's fireplace candelabra.
I am somewhat unhappy as the color of the candles is very uniform, the scent is strong, but I don't think I put enough mold sealer on the bottom of the mold letting the wax escape from one of them. the others I will fill where need be, but that one needs to be remelted and repoured to the correct height of 3 inches tall.
the poncho knitting project turned out one side too long, so I just folded and sewed the front and sewed a silver fun collar around the neck. It is now in a consignment shop. If it doesn't sell after a few months, I will donate it for a tax deduction elsewhere. But I have other knit projects like a scarf from bulky yarn, etc in the works. I am working on a blanket, but I may frog it and turn it from knit and slip stitches to a basket weave stitch.
Eating a mushu chicken and wonton soup and getting together the encouragement to fix the the 9 candles however I can to make them more saleable to my customer who wanted them for her mom.
It is a long day and I look forward to going to bed soon.
